Lupus :
Lupus is an autoimmune condition in which the body's own immune system attacks the body instead of defending against infections. There are types of lupus, such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), cutaneous lupus erythematosus, drug-induced lupus, and neonatal lupus. Lupus can occur due to various reasons such as genetic factors, stress, and environmental factors. The symptoms that can be observed when there is lupus can be joint pains, hair loss, butterfly rash on the face, fever, swollen glands, ulcers in the mouth, blood clots, swelling of legs, arms, and face, shortness of breath, dry eyes, photosensitivity, anemia, heart disease, osteoporosis, depression, seizures, and kidney disease. The diagnosis of lupus can be based on the diagnostic tests such as physical examination, antinuclear antibody (ANA) test, blood tests, biopsy, and urinalysis. Management of lupus involves immunosuppressants, medications, managing hypertension, and treatment for other conditions.
